The Medill journalism program boasts a tremendous staff: former CNN broadcaster, Ebony editors, Northwestern professors, eBay originator, newspaper recruiter and multimedia creators. In addition to the full-time crew, guest instructors from the Boston Globe, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, People, Newsweek, and other publications are invited back each year. They run workshops, teach classes, and help cherubs through their journalism journey. Bret Begun, a 1993 cherub, spent one week as a guest instructor this year. Begun has worked for Newsweek magazine as a writer and editor. He is now deputy director of editorial content for Park & Bond, an apparel retailer.
Our question for Begun: why do you love journalism?
